Q-Chips
Here's a case where the gains in responsiveness are so improved that it's hard to believe you're driving the same car. Gains start as low as 2000 rpm and go all the way to a new redline of 6900. Peak horsepower gain is 9bhp. Torque below 4000 rpm is dramatically improved. 50 State Legal under C.A.R.B. E.O. #D-375-2. Note: due to numerous factory changes in ECU/chip design, have the Volkswagen part number from your car's ECU ready when you place your order.

The benefits of the Q-Chip for the VR6 cars far exceed what can be shown on a dyno graph. Torque is increased at all points from 2000 to 6000 rpm, and peak horsepower is increased by 7. The engine's willingness to rev is improved dramatically. The rev limit is moved upward to 6900rpm, and the top speed limiter is removed. Try one and you'll know how nice this engine can run when given the chance! Have the VW part number from your car's ECU ready when you call to order. Our tech department is available to assist you in finding this number. Note: The Factory Chip in most 1994-1995 models is soldered to the ECU circuit board. We will remove this chip and replace it with a socketed Q-Chip for you. Send us your ECU, and we'll ship it within 24 hours of receipt. An ECU exchange program is also available. We will send you an already-modified ECU in exchange for your original. A core charge applies, and will vary depending on ECU required. Please call for more information.

The Q-Chip for the A4 2.0L cars provides good gains in torque and horsepower at all rpm. The car's ability to run to the new, higher 6900 rpm redline is quickened, and the motor becomes much more responsive. Gains of at least 5 horsepower are seen from 4000rpm to 6000rpm. A nice way to liven up your new VW. Call with your ECU number ready.
Note: In 1998-2000 2.0L New Beetle, Jetta 4, and Golf 4 models, U.S.-spec VW's use an updated version of Bosch Motronic called M5.9. This system is based upon an improved CPU and a 2MB flash E-PROM. From 2001 onwards, 2.0L cars have been further upgraded to ME7.5 and throttle-by-wire with an 8MB E-PROM.
Both of these offer a much
improved and more accurate system than the "old days" of the early 1990's,
and a slightly more complicated process is required to modify them properly.
We will properly desolder, with hot air, the original Chip from your ECU.
Then, we install a special socket that will hold your new Q-Chip. We will
send you back the modified ECU with the Q-Chip already installed along with
your stock chip (2001> models will get a stock chip in a plug-in module).
Remember. call ahead to arrange for your ECU's modification process !

The E-PROM (Chip) used in late model VW (A4/B5) ECU's is a surface mounted device that is soldered directly to the circuit board. What this means to you is that your car's ECU must be sent to Dubtechnik for Q-Chip installation. Send us your ECU, and we'll modify it, then ship it within 24 hours of receipt. Please call ahead, with ECU number in hand, to get an authorization number for this process. Your salesman will guide you when you call. |
A4 1.8T Motronic ME7
Stage 1:
The Q-Chip
optimizes fuel, timing, and boost maps for performance-oriented driving when
using the stock turbocharger and premium 92 octane fuel. Boost pressure is
set to reach 1.0-1.1 bar maximum, up from 0.7 bar. Peak horsepower on pre-2001
cars is raised from the stock 150 to 185 (Beetle) or 192 (G/J). 2001 and
later cars, in both 150hp and 180hp stock form, have revised turbos and further
updated management, and can be Q-Chipped for still more power while maintaining
absolute reliability. Our own 2001 (AWW-150hp) GTi has gone from 131 hp at
the wheels in stock form to a healthy 186, simply by installing a Q-Chip,
a K&N filter, and bolting on our awesome 2.5 inch exhaust! That's an
easy 55 horsepower gain with bolt on parts! The result is 204hp on both 150
and 180 hp models. Torque levels are dramatically improved and translate
into sheer kick-in-the-pants driving pleasure! You will be amazed at how
this single change can release your car's hidden potential. Every 1.8T should
have this modification! We will need your car's ECU (electronic control unit)
to perform the Q-Chip installation. Please call ahead, preferrably with ECU
number in hand, to get an authorization number for this process. Your salesman
will guide you when you call. (Stage 2 Applications are available with
larger turbos, please call Dubtechnik for info.)
